For more than 25 years (yes, I began young :)) I have been baking all types of celebration cakes, eventually settling into mostly wedding cakes while living out west in Southern Cal. Several years ago though, moving from Los Angeles to Charlottesville caught me in a quandary over what will I do in this new south? Well, I continued to do what I do—cooking, baking cakes and gardening—mostly baking (just as I did in L.A.). Although my new friends didn’t turn down a meal or fresh vegetables from the garden, they hinted… and requested... for more of the sweet treats. And I was very happy to oblige.
While I sometimes miss the transporting nightmares of feeling every bump in the road and the “always in traffic” race to set-up a wedding cake within an impossible window of time, the cupcake has become the gentler, kinder cake that seems more suitable to my new life in the country. It wasn't long before my single serving cake, the portable, no plate no fork needed, honest treat became a hit. charlottesville cupcake was born.
While I am often the subject of organic jokes from my new-found southern friends, it's okay—they keep coming back for more. And that’s just the way I like it.
My mission: I love feeding people—and making new friends (which is easy when you feed them). You are why I bake. I hope you enjoy the quality and dedication that has gone into charlottesville cupcake.
peace,

Baking for you is the same as baking for me—I wouldn’t think of using ingredients that I wouldn’t choose for my own family. This is why I will always prefer farm fresh eggs and organics, not to mention quality ingredients such as Madagascar Bourbon vanilla and the wonderful French Valrhona cocoa—necessities for superior flavor.
